This Sunday: Jesus has just told the apostles that he will have to suffer and die. It is called a “Passion Prediction.” Of course, the news he bears causes the apostles sadness – Jesus is their much-loved friend after all. But then, in a tender act of kindness, Jesus pulls back the veil and allows them to see ahead into the glory of Jesus risen at Easter. Jesus anticipates their need. And he anticipates my need – promising his presence and love. Here is a prayer for this Second Sunday of Lent – the Sunday of the Transfiguration.
Father, help me to be certain of your victorious presence every day of my life by helping me to seek you beyond the most threatening and most banal appearances.
