The Family Foundation School Catholic Community Bulletin
Pauca Verba (a few words)
Someone recently wrote who had come back to the practice of her Catholic life after being away for many years. She came out to The Family School for her Confession. Listen to what she wrote:
“You heard my first confession after many, many years. I could not wait to get to that confession. If my care had not started that day I would have run on foot to get to The Family School. I remember how I longed to hear the words, ‘Go, your sins have been forgiven!’ It was better than a shower after a long and dirty day.”
Whoa! When did you last make a good examination of conscience and a truly heartfelt confession? Come to celebrate the mercies of Jesus!

Question: Do I exploit the faults of this place? Using them to manipulate sympathy or other desired reactions from home?

Something to think about: That the Christian should not wear a shirt with a logoed shirt unless he/she agrees with the message of the music. Or this: Do I know where my clothes are made? By whom? Do the people who make my clothes get paid a living wage? Do they work under cruel, unsafe, unfair, unhealthy conditions? There are websites that give ratings to companies regarding their fair labor and human rights record.

“Follow the Virgin Mary’s example and you will spread a breeze of optimism over the world. Give up pride and be humble so as to forestall many a conflict among mankind.” Pope John Paul II

This is photo is of John and Ann F. and their new baby girl, Ava Marie on the day of the little girl’s Baptism a few months ago in Naples, Florida. John graduated from The Family School some years ago. When Jackie and Joe P. had baby Isabella, Joe said, “No bag of dope ever made me feel so good.” Wow! Joe also started reading a book about being a Christian father of a little girl. One chapter was entitled: “Be the man you want your daughter to marry.” So here’s John and Ann introducing Ava to Jesus in the water of the Baptism font. Baptism gives us the name Christian. Baptism claims us for Christ. Baptism opens the door to the other sacraments. Baptism sparks prayer, justice, mercy and the love of neighbor in the human soul. Baptism is the womb of the Church by which we are born a second time (passing through water again) to the higher things of God in Christ! In Baptism we begin our THEOSIS – sharing in God’s energies and life. Our CHRISTIFICATION – our becoming new Christ-persons. Young Christians, let’s start to think about these things. More than a few of us are not far from when we will start our own families!
