The altar was decorated with a plethora of flowers with numerous vibrant colors for the Easter Vigil Mass on Holy Saturday Night. Family and friends, staff and students supported, Blake J. and Kevin L. as they were baptized and entered into the Catholic Church. “After experiencing the events that occurred during the Easter Tridium, it seemed to me as if this was a major step in both Kevin and Blake’s journey to find a better way of life,” JT H affirmed. Blake and Kevin’s family attended the Easter Vigil in The Family Foundation School Chapel and were excited to see the baptism.

Two days prior to Holy Saturday, mass was held on Holy Thursday and Good Friday giving students quiet time to reflect on the dying and rising of Jesus. Many students enjoyed the masses and were enthusiastic in taking part in Blake and Kevin’s baptism. Matt V. a student in Talbot House and an altar server for Catholic Masses said, “Last year during the Tridium I watched all of my friends get baptized and wished I could be a part of the process. This year I had the privilege of serving mass with Chris and Bennett and it was really cool to be a part of my friends’ baptism.”

The importance of Baptism in the Catholic Church reflects the Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River. Jesus starts his ministry after being baptized in the Jordan. Kevin, Blake and many other catechumens baptized into the Catholic Faith started their journey to living a more principled and religious life on Holy Saturday.
